Argentina JUST PASSED a groundbreaking gender identity bill!!!
From now on, people will be able to change the name and gender on their ID without needing psychiatric permission or any body modifications. Furthermore, anyone who does want hormones or surgery will be able to access them for free through the public and private health system.
It was passed unanimously today by the Senate :-D

In October of 2011, 7-year-old Bobby Montoya, a transgender girl, asked to join the Girl Scouts of Colorado. After initially being rejected, Bobby was welcomed by the chapter who issued a statement saying, “Girl Scouts is an inclusive organization and we accept all girls in Kindergarten through 12th grade as members. If a child identifies as a girl and the child’s family presents her as a girl, Girl Scouts of Colorado welcomes her as a Girl Scout.”
In response to the Girl Scout’s inclusive policy, a California teen posted a YouTube video which uses anti-transgender arguments to call for a boycott of the Girl Scouts’ famous cookies. The Girls Scouts are standing by their policy to include transgender girls as Scouts, and in a statement to the Washington Post, the organization said it “prided itself on being an inclusive organization serving girls from all walks of life.”

STOP FORCED STERILIZATION IN SWEDEN
If you are a transgender person in Sweden today looking to legally change your gender, in the 21st century you are still forced to undergo surgery that will render you permanently infertile and forever unable to have children. This barbaric practice of forced sterilizations has to stop!
The majority of the Swedish parliament is in favor of modifying this law - but up until now Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt has let a small conservative party block this long awaited reform.
Let’s make sure the Prime Minister knows that the majority of Sweden, and Europe - wants to see Sweden on the right side of history - by eliminating this archaic practice.

Do people not realize that you’re doing is almost exactly the same they are doing?

Being narrow minded goes both ways.
Um, yeah, except that homophobic beliefs OPPRESS others. They are the reason so many give up on life. They make life hell for LGBTQ people everywhere. Homophobia is so outdated yet it is EVERYWHERE. Homophobia tells us, LGBTQ folks, that we are LESS THAN HUMAN. That we are not “normal”. That we deserve less rights than straight people.
So sorry if I’m not shedding any tears for the oppressors. Racists and misogynists are people too. But you know what? They are the ones who need to reevaluate their worldviews. Not me. I’m not going to scream or punch someone who tells me that if I marry a woman I’m ruining straight marriage, but I’m not giving them my sympathy.

A private school in Tennessee has banned all mention of homosexuality because, administrators say, it is forbidden in the Bible.
One parent of a student at Rossville “Christian” Academy in Rossville, Tenn., told WREG News that they believe the policy change is aimed at one particular gay student at the 300-student school for grades K-12.According to University of Memphis law professor Steve Mulroy, the policy is legal because there is no state or federal law preventing such discriminatory rules regarding gay people. Furthermore, because the academy is a Christian school, there may be even more protections than if the school was a public institution.
The new policy states, “Homosexuality is forbidden in scripture (Romans 1:27, Leviticus 18:22). A staff member or student who promotes, engages in, or identifies himself/herself with such activity through any word or action shall be in violation of this policy. Should the administration determine a violation of this policy, the person involved will be subject to disciplinary action with the possibility of permanent dismissal. Any applicant who is not in compliance with this policy will not be admitted.”
Every word of this is terrifying. What’s most horrifying is that it’s legal.

… imagine a 19-year-old girl being dropped off at an acquaintance’s home by a taxi on a Sunday night and finding three men on the lawn waiting for her. Imagine them kidnapping, torturing, decapitating, dismembering and burning her alive for sport, as young, raucous boys would to a Barbie doll. Imagine them chucking her torso on the side of a highway, with absolutely no regret or sense of immorality. Imagine being the mother called into the morgue to identify a defiled torso as your daughter. Swallow that bitter pill of reality and tell me that marriage is the most important issue for the LGBT community in 2011. For several in the transgender community, it might as well be 1969 all over again, because nothing has changed for them.

Two transgender high school students in Fort Collins, Colo., say they have been forbidden to use student restrooms, and one of them, 16-year-old Dionne Malikowski, just got suspended for doing so. Malikowski, a trans girl, and her friend Kurt Peters, also 16 and a trans guy, say they have been told to use the staff bathrooms at Fort Collins High School. But, Malikowski told reporters, “There’s not staff bathrooms all over the school, so when you really got to pee, you got to pee.”
That’s what she says happened about a month ago when she used the women’s restroom, reports W9 News in Colorado. And then she was suspended for three days.
“I cried,” Malikowski said. “I told them that it was really messed up for them to do that to me, and they were like, ‘We’ve warned you before,’ and I was just like, ‘Obviously you don’t understand what it’s like.’”
Bathrooms are the single most common public place where the gender binary is strictly enforced, reports the Transgender Law Center. Since public restrooms are a place where people who are or are perceived to be gender-nonconforming are routinely harassed and often assaulted, the topic of bathroom safety and access is all too common conversation in schools these days. The center has been running a Safe Bathrooms Access Campaign and published the groundbreaking guide called Peeing in Peace.Another organization, Safe2Pee.org, offers a growing online database of public restrooms that transgender individuals can access safely. There are six listed in Fort Collins, but that doesn’t help campus-bound teens like Malikowski.
