A couple of weeks ago, Serah took initiative in helping our dear friend Anyaa of thosefuckingangels get out of her situation. With a lot being transmitted, not a lot was received. I am striving to rectify this.

Anyaa is the sweetest person I know. She never hates and will always respect differing opinions. She is vibrant, caring, and always happy to help if you need it. Cats are her life. She took them in for years and gave them a home, making sure that one never went hungry or without shelter for a day. In her home in a very small country, she has two kittens I think. I lose track of just how many she has and they mean more to her than anything. When she was short on money for herself and her cats, she decreased the amount of food she ate so her cats would have food to eat. 

I owe her so much. She is one of the reasons I am alive right now and asking you for help. For weeks, months even, she has been looking for a job in an environment where no one is hiring unless the applicant has a degree, which Anyaa does not. 

Serah made the original post, she stated that Anyaa had three weeks left of cash. That post was made two weeks ago. And here is Anyaa’s latest update.We are on a deadline to get this done. 

The goal is $2,000 by July 2012.

Due to immigration laws and visas, she is not able to come to the United States, but we can do what we can to keep her in her home and in safety where she is. She is down to the very last straw, accepting any job that will take her. 

Even if you don’t have money, a simple reblog goes a long way. 

Without this, she will end up on the street and reduced to selling things one should never have to sell in order to survive. We, as a community, have pulled together numerous times before to help those who need it. Let’s team up again to help get Anyaa to safety and stability.

Though him and his ska band enjoy local success in Oakland, Ca, Passion is discontent with remaining local and wants to extend the band’s fame beyond the bay area. However, his best friend and band mate, Shields, cannot fully accept his transition which heavily affects the success of the group as he constantly pressures Passion into living stealth and adopting a misogynist demeanor. Afraid of ruining the chances of success for his band and feeling unsure of his own masculinity, Passion begrudgingly begins to closet himself. When he encounters a local queer activist named Uni that reminds him of the beauty of gender fluidity, it propels him to take action in his career as a musician, reconsider his friendship with Shields, and openly embrace his trans identity and non-traditional expression of masculinity.

For hundreds of years Romani have suffered racism and prejudice because of the way we were stereotyped. A lot of hard work has went into changing people’s view of us around the world. This is being destroyed along with the reputations of our people. The Television Show “My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding” promises a look into the “Gypsy” lifestyle. What they are really doing is showing a small group of Irish Travellers and then passing them off as “Gypsies”. There are many lies that are being peddled to the viewers as facts so that the show’s producers can make a buck. But they are doing it at OUR EXPENSE.

One of the many lies shows a supposed “Gypsy” tradition called Grabbing, where boys basically assault young girls in order to steal a kiss. You know we don’t do this. Its insulting to Romanies and Irish Travellers alike that this show throws us into a pile with no respect to who we really are. We have been severely damaged by the way this show spins “Gypsies” into a Jerry Springer Show. Our people are being depicted as trailer trash, alcoholics and thieves which is causing even more hatred and more suspicion in the Romani and Traveller communities.Do not participate in the negative portrayal of the Roma by participating in this documentary. These people are sharks who will use and abuse you and your family. They are soliciting our kids on Facebook already. They’ve contacted my daughter, my sisters and other members of my family. Chances are they are trying to contact your chavies too.

Do not trust them!A show like this can make MILLIONS of dollars per season and will expose the way that you live and how you do business. They would pay you what amounts to peanuts. We have read dozens of reports from other Travellers and Romani in the United Kingdom about how our children are now the subject of even more abuse and are being bullied because of the lies produced in this show.

A potential class action lawsuit may be filed against the My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding to show these greedy outfits that we’re not going to take this laying down. Recently, the singer known as Bitch posted a statement regarding the criticism against her, saying that she is transphobic and not a trans ally. This is in relation to the Michigan Womyns Music Festival (Michfest). The admission policy for this event is to only allow “womyn born womyn” to attend. Trans men are permitted access but trans women are not. The reason Bitch has been under attack and has been accused of transphobia is because she continues to play at Michfest and refuses to challenge the organisers on this admission policy.

Now anyone can see what the problem is here. To say that trans women are not welcome at a women’s festival is to imply that they are not women at all. This is a transphobic statement. So lets start at the begining, and have a look at why Michfest has come to be, as Bitch says in her statement;

“To get a good education on the kind of stuff these women were facing and radically rebelling against to make this festival, which included not being allowed, as queer women, to even name their queerness in front of their own audiences, because the men who ran the venues, ran the sound and paid them would either pull the plug, refuse to pay them, kick them out, etc.—go watch “Radical Harmonies” for an idea of what they faced.”

The women who started Michfest did so because they were victims of bigotry. They were denied the opportunity to even name their queerness in a public space by the people who controlled those public spaces. Now, it is those same Michfest organisers who are denying queer women the opportunity to name their queerness in a public space, just because they weren’t female assigned at birth (FAAB). Hello hypocracy, nice to see your brought friend cisgendered privilege along with you.

As the organisers like to fall back on this statement of “womyn born womyn”, lets change that around a bit and see what happens. How about making the policy “womyn born white”? It’s not racist to have a policy “womyn born white”, this space is built for white women and their specific set of lived experiences! Yeah right.

But surely they’re not really being transphobic if they allow trans men to attend the festival, right? Well, as a male identified FAAB trans person, I don’t see why I should be welcomed into a space that is specifically intended for women only. I am not a woman. To imply that I am by allowing me admission to a women only space due to the genitals I happened to be born with, is quite frankly insulting. Is the admissions policy really so out of touch as to imply that all you need to be permitted access to the festival is a vagina that you were born with (gender identity optional)?

Bitch goes on in her statement to try and justify this admissions policy;

“I had and still have given a lot of thought to their policy.  I don’t believe that MWMF is trying to define what a woman is.  I believe they are trying to say that “this space is built for FAABs and their specific set of lived experiences.”  That’s it.”

This is a space for people who were assigned the sex female at birth. This by it’s very nature includes trans men. Trans men whose specific set of lived experiences are very different to a female identified FAAB person’s. Are they sure they really want all these men and their lived experiences in their ‘womyn only’ space? What makes our lived experiences as men being raised female more valid than those of women who were raised male? Oh that’s right, it the genitals, isn’t it? Don’t be silly, you can’t be a woman if you weren’t raised as one.

So, what about being a trans ally? Well, what is an ally? An ally is someone who supports a group that they are not specifically a part of. I am a trans man, yet I am an ally to trans women, I am not a part of that group, but I support them. Bitch claims to be a trans ally, she says this in her statement;

“This open letter is to clarify that i am, and always have been, a trans ally, in my work, my words and my actions.”

But then she goes on to say;

“I don’t believe, however, that Michigan should have to change its boundary.  And, I want to be clear: I would support them if they wanted to; but I don’t believe that it is my place, or anyone else’s, to define their boundaries for them.”

This is exactly the kind of situation where trans allies are needed most, to speak up on behalf of the trans people who are being rejected due to their trans status. This is what allies do. You don’t pick and choose when you are an ally. It’s all or nothing.

“People started showing up at our shows, passing out flyers about our supposed transphobia, encouraging people not to support us by going to our concerts because we don’t support “all women.”  Nothing could have been further from the truth!  One show we played, out of almost 200 a year, was a separatist event, limited to FAABs.”

That one show out of 200 is what undermines and negates your ally-ship. That one time that you chose to side with the bigots rather than the people you are supposedly an ally to. That is the betrayal.

This, Bitch, is why you cannot call yourself a trans ally.

Hi Tumblr comics fans,

Let’s accomplish some social good today. The organization One Million Moms, who describe themselves as “a network of Christian mothers and grandmothers taking a stand for our children who are exploited by the entertainment industry”, have recently released a statement asking for a write-in campaign to Marvel (owned by Disney) and DC (owned by Warner Bros.) asking them to “change and cancel all plans of homosexual superhero characters immediately”.

This is in direct relation to Marvel’s first gay marriage in Astonishing X-Men #50 and DC announcing a reveal of a male, iconic character’s sexual identity being changed from previous incarnations. One Million Moms goes on to say things like, 

Children desire to be just like superheroes. Children mimic superhero actions and even dress up in costumes to resemble these characters as much as possible. Can you imagine little boys saying, “I want a boyfriend or husband like X-Men?” 

This is ridiculous! Why do adult gay men need comic superheroes as role models? They don’t but do want to indoctrate impressionable young minds by placing these gay characters on pedestals in a positive light. These companies are heavily influencing our youth by using children’s superheroes to desensitize and brainwash them in thinking that a gay lifestyle choice is normal and desirable. As Christians, we know that homosexuality is a sin (Romans 1:26-27).

This is yet again another example of the bigotry from close-minded individuals. Obviously they have no problem referencing Romans 1:26-27, but heavens forbid they take a gander at Matthew 7:1 (Judge not, that you be not judged.). I won’t even touch the stereotypical gender roles this organization is promoting.

What can you do? Easy! Let’s lets overwhelm their voice. For every email Marvel or DC receives asking to remove homosexual elements from comics, let’s send them emails congratulating them on the steps they are taking and showing support for their editorial and creative decisions. Tweet them and let them know you are proud to support gay characters and gay marriage in comics.

CISPA Update of the Day: CISPA, the Cyber Information Sharing and Protection Act that passed the House in April, likely is headed for a Senate vote in early June.

To drum up opposition to the legislation, which would create “a ‘cybersecurity’ exemption to all existing laws,” Fight for the Future, Democrats.com, The Liberty Coalition, and the Entertainment Consumers Association have created a new website called Privacy Is Awesome. The site outlines the top five ways to help defeat CISPA:

• Call your senators and tell them to oppose the Lieberman-Collins bill (CISPA), and ask for a constituent meeting during the Memorial Day recess to help change their mind.
• Email senators offices about CISPA, expressing your opposition.
• Keep calling senators until they plan a constituent meeting.
• Donate to anti-CISPA organizers — the same teams that helped defeat SOPA/PIPA.
• Share your opposition online — Facebook, Twitter, etc.

Meanwhile, Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., is spearheading opposition to the legislation, concluding a recent Senate floor speech with:

I believe these bills will encourage the development of a cyber security industry that profits from fear and whose currency is Americans private data. These bills create a Cyber Industrial Complex that has an interest in preserving the problem to which it is the solution.

My friend Britt is 16, and living in a very unstable, unhealthy home. She has been battling with a lot of mental issues over the years and has been denied access to treatment by her mother. Her mom has alos been stealing from her. She lives in an unstable household and has suffered some fairly excessive trauma of which she is not being treated for or helped with. . She’s been very smart and has calculated how much she would need to get on her feet by graduation and she is working towards that goal. You can read her full story here, though this hardly scratches the surface..it’s what she is willing to tell the internet and I will respect that.

The TLDR is that my friend deserves a future and I want to help give it to her in whatever ways I can. 

I will be taking graphic commissions, so here is how it will work: Donate 1-3 dollars and I will produce something askin to this.
